105. God Is Not Who Hurt You: Learning to Trust Him After Father Wounds
What if the hardest part about trusting God…
is not your faith—but your story?
I want to share something with you that I don’t take lightly.
I didn’t grow up with a father who protected me.
I grew up in a home where there was abuse—emotional, physical, psychological, and sexual.
So when I came to know God and heard,
“He is your Father…”
That didn’t feel comforting to me.
It felt complicated.
And maybe… it does for you too.
In this episode, I’m opening up about my own journey of learning to separate God’s character from human sin—and why this has been one of the hardest, but most healing parts of my walk with Him.
We’re going to gently walk through:
- Why trusting God can feel so hard after father wounds
- How your past may be shaping your view of Him
- What Psalm 118:6 really means when it says, “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear”
- And how to begin untangling truth from trauma… without forcing trust or rushing healing
This is not about trying harder.
It’s about slowing down…
getting honest…
and allowing God to show you who He really is—
in a way that feels safe, steady, and real.

So many women are carrying this quietly.
You are not alone in this.
And I want you to hear me clearly:
God is not who hurt you.
