If you’re walking through pain that hasn’t gone away…this episode is for you.
Maybe you’ve prayed.Maybe you’ve asked God to take it away—again and again.And yet… it’s still here.
And somewhere deep down, the questions start to rise:
God, where are You?Why won’t You heal this?Did I do something wrong?
In this episode, I want to sit with you in that space.
Not with quick answers. Not with clichés.But with truth that can actually hold you when the pain doesn’t leave.
We’re going to walk through Psalm 6 and 2 Corinthians 12:7–10, and I’m going to show you something that changed everything for me:
👉 Sometimes God doesn’t remove the suffering…because He is doing something deeper within it.
We’ll talk about:
Why suffering is not always a result of sin
How God can use affliction to refine, protect, and draw us closer
What it means that His grace is sufficient
And how Christ’s power is made perfect in your weakness
I also share personally about my journey with chronic migraines…and how the Lord has met me—not by taking the pain away, but by sustaining me in it.
If you’re tired…if you feel unseen…if you’re carrying something heavy that no one else fully understands…
You are not alone.
And God is not absent in your suffering.

Sometimes the most painful realizations in parenting come years later.
Our children grow older. They become teenagers, young adults, or even parents themselves. And somewhere along the way we begin to see things more clearly.
We remember moments when we were overwhelmed… Times when we reacted in frustration… Seasons when we may not have been as emotionally present as our children needed.
And many parents quietly carry a heavy question in their hearts:
Did I miss my chance?
In this episode, we explore the powerful connection between attachment and the Gospel—how the relationships children experience with their parents shape their sense of safety, identity, and belonging.
We talk about:
What attachment really is and why it matters
How children develop core beliefs about themselves through relationships
The emotional needs God designed children to have
Why no parent gets it perfectly right
And most importantly, how healing and repair are still possible—even when your children are older
Because the message of Scripture is not perfection.
It’s restoration.
Through humility, repentance, and a willingness to step off unhealthy relational patterns like the Unhappy Kid Triangle, parents can begin moving toward truth, responsibility, and repair.
And when parents change, something powerful often begins to shift in families.
God is still able to restore what feels broken.
Your story is not finished.

Have you ever been in a spiritual environment where everyone seemed to agree… but something in your spirit told you something wasn’t right?
In this episode, Danielle walks through the powerful and sobering story of Micaiah and King Ahab in 1 Kings 22 — a moment in Scripture that reveals how unhealthy leadership dynamics can develop when truth becomes unwelcome.
When 400 prophets told King Ahab exactly what he wanted to hear, one lone prophet stood up and spoke the truth. For that courage, he was mocked, struck, and imprisoned.
This story isn’t just ancient history.
It speaks directly to the realities many believers face today when navigating spiritual authority, church hurt, manipulation, and the cost of standing in truth.
In this episode, Danielle explores:
What 1 Kings 22 reveals about spiritual leadership and discernment
How unhealthy systems form when leaders surround themselves with affirming voices
How the Unhappy Kid Triangle can show up in spiritual environments
Why truth-tellers are often labeled “divisive” or “negative”
Practical steps for setting healthy boundaries when dealing with controlling or spiritually abusive leadership
How to step off unhealthy relational dynamics and walk in wisdom, courage, and peace
If you’ve ever questioned your instincts, felt silenced for asking honest questions, or struggled to process church hurt, this conversation offers both biblical clarity and compassionate encouragement.
You are not alone, and healing is possible.
xoxo,
Danielle

Today’s episode is a special one.
This is Episode 100 of The Happy Family Coach Podcast, and I want to begin by saying thank you. Thank you for showing up week after week, for sharing these conversations with others, and for doing the courageous work of healing in your own life and family.
Over the past hundred episodes we’ve talked about faith, family, emotional health, generational patterns, and what it looks like to live in truth and freedom. And today we’re talking about something that sits at the heart of all of it:
Failure is not the end of the story.
In this episode, we explore Solomon’s prayer in 1 Kings 8, where he does something remarkable. As he dedicates the temple, he assumes something many of us struggle to accept:
People will fail.
Children will fail.Leaders will fail.Families will fail.
But instead of praying for perfection, Solomon prays for something far more powerful — a clear pathway back to God.
Together we talk about what it looks like to build families where repentance is safe, where confession restores connection, and where the road home is always visible.
Because children often learn how God responds to failure by watching how we respond to theirs.
If you’ve ever wondered:
• How do I help my child recover after they make a mistake?• How do I correct behavior without creating shame?• Why do so many adults struggle to return to God after failure?• What does a repentance-centered home actually look like?
This conversation is for you.
I’ve also written a companion blog article: Failure is Not the End of the Story for this episode where I expand on these ideas and offer additional reflection and practical encouragement for parents and families.
If you’re in a season where your family needs deeper support, I offer Biblical Counseling and Family Coaching for individuals, couples, parents, and teens who want to break unhealthy patterns and build healthier, Christ-centered relationships. You can learn more or book a session through my website.
And throughout the year, I host intimate women’s healing retreats where we slow down, step away from the noise of everyday life, and create space for deeper healing, reflection, and renewal. If gathering in a peaceful environment with other women who are pursuing healing sounds life-giving, you can always find information about upcoming retreats on my website.
Thank you again for being here for Episode 100.
I’m so grateful you’re part of this community and that we get to walk this journey of healing and faith together.
Remember:
Failure is not the end of the story.
The road home is always there.
xoxo,
Danielle

What happens when fear becomes the architect of our homes?
In 1 Kings 6, Solomon builds the temple — the dwelling place of God’s presence. But what struck me most in studying this chapter wasn’t just the structure… it was the spirit in which it was built. Quiet formation. Intentional design. Hidden holiness. No panic. No pressure. No performance.
And I couldn’t help but ask:
What kind of house are we building in our homes?
As a biblical counselor and family coach, I sit with parents every week who love God deeply and genuinely want their children to follow Jesus. But sometimes, without even realizing it, fear begins shaping the culture of the home — fear of rebellion, fear of failure, fear of drifting.
Fear tightens.Fear controls.Fear builds pressure.
But fear is a terrible architect.
In this episode, I explore the difference between structure and control, reverence and rigidity, sacred and stressful faith. We’ll talk about what it looks like to move from managing behavior to forming hearts — and how to build homes where God’s presence feels safe, not heavy.
And if you prefer to read, reflect, or share written content, I’ve also written an accompanying blog post that goes deeper into the story behind this episode — including a personal reflection from Roma, Italy and what it has taught me about building what lasts. You can find that link here: Fear is a Terrible Architect
If you’ve ever wrestled with the tension between rules and relationship…If you’ve wondered whether your children experience faith as sacred or stressful…If you’re longing to break generational cycles of fear-based parenting…
This conversation is for you.
Let’s rebuild from the inside out.
xoxo,
Danielle

We are raising our children and teens in a world where seeing is no longer believing.
AI has changed the way images are created, stories are told, and narratives spread. What looks real may not be true. What feels urgent may not deserve our reaction. And too often, people act—especially online—before stopping to discern what is actually true.
In this episode, I talk honestly about why discernment is no longer optional, especially for this generation. We explore discernment as a gift of the Holy Spirit, not a personality trait, and why wisdom, restraint, and truth matter more than ever in a digital age.
This is not a fear-based conversation.It’s a protective one.
We talk about:
Navigating social media and AI with wisdom, not panic
Why privacy is not hiding, but stewardship and protection
The very real dangers of false accusations, manufactured shame, and online reactivity
How words, images, and reposts carry moral and spiritual weight
What parents must model if we want our teens to think clearly and respond wisely
I also share how we can shift from control to formation—teaching our children how to think, not just what to avoid—and why anchoring identity in truth is one of the greatest protections we can offer our kids today.
This episode is meant to slow you down, steady you, and equip you—not overwhelm you.
📖 Accompanying Blog Article:Discernment in a World Where Truth Can Be Fabricated: Why Wisdom, Privacy, and Spiritual Formation Matter More Than Ever
The blog goes deeper into the formation side of this conversation and is a great companion piece if you want to reflect, journal, or continue the discussion with your teen or spouse.
You can read purchase the Happy Kid Toolkit and book a biblical counseling or family coaching session from one place at happyfamilycoach.com.
If this episode resonates, I’d love for you to share it with another parent who needs wisdom—not fear—in this season.

What do you do when people who caused real harm appear to thrive—while you’re left carrying the cost?
What happens to faith when justice feels delayed, silence feels loud, and doing the right thing feels painfully expensive?
In this deeply honest and trauma-aware episode, I walk slowly through Psalm 73, a psalm written for believers who are weary, wounded, and wrestling with injustice. Together, we name the pain of watching the wicked seem to prosper, explore why our longing for justice is so deeply rooted in the heart of God, and discover how God’s presence steadies us when answers don’t come quickly.
This episode is especially for those who have experienced:
spiritual abuse or betrayal
church hurt or abuse of authority
delayed justice and unresolved pain
envy, comparison, or faith under strain
the temptation toward cynicism, hardness, or self-protection
Rather than offering platitudes or rushing healing, Psalm 73 invites us into something quieter—and stronger: nearness to God that anchors the soul while we wait for justice.
I can't wait to hear what you think about todays episode!
xoxo,
Danielle

In this episode, I slow way down and sit with one of the most intimate passages in all of Scripture—Psalm 139.
I talk honestly about what it means to be fully known by God—and why that truth can feel deeply comforting for some of us, yet unsettling or even threatening for others.
For many of us, being known has not felt safe. It meant correction instead of care, performance instead of presence, or carrying responsibility that never belonged to us. So when Scripture says God knows us completely, our nervous system may brace instead of rest.
In this episode, I walk through Psalm 139 with a trauma-informed, faith-based lens and explore how early family dynamics, shame, neglect, and survival roles shape the way we experience God’s nearness and authority.
You’ll hear me talk about:
Why God’s knowing can feel comforting—or threatening—depending on your story
How trauma and family systems influence our view of God
The difference between survival roles and secure identity
How the Unhappy Kid Triangle forms—and how secure love leads us into the Happy Kid Triangle
What it looks like to move from hiding, control, and defensiveness into presence, connection, and mature leadership
Why Psalm 139 isn’t a call to try harder, but an invitation to rest deeper
I also share practical, Spirit-led tools to support your healing and growth, including:
Read the accompanying blog post: Psalm 139 and the Ache to Be Known Without Fear
The Discover Your Go-To Position on the Unhappy Kid Triangle quiz
The Healing Mirror practice for gentle inner reflection
The Happy Kid Toolkit for walking out real change in everyday life

This episode is for anyone who longs to be seen without fear, loved without conditions, and known without shame.
If you’ve ever wondered whether God really knows you—this episode is for you.
xoxo,
Danielle

What if God’s power isn’t something to fear—but something your nervous system has been longing for?
In this episode, we walk slowly through Psalm 68, a bold and moving psalm that redefines strength, authority, and leadership through the lens of protection, presence, and care for the vulnerable.
Many of us carry complicated relationships with power—shaped by unpredictable authority, control, absence, or harm. So when Scripture speaks of a mighty God who “arises,” our bodies may brace instead of rest.
Psalm 68 offers a different picture.
Here we meet a God whose strength protects instead of controls.A God whose authority moves toward the vulnerable.A God who walks with His people through unresolved seasons rather than waiting at the finish line.
This episode is especially for those who:
struggle with anxiety or hypervigilance
find authority difficult to trust
have been wounded by misuse of power
feel stuck in long, unresolved seasons
are learning to move from reaction to rest
We’ll explore how God holds salvation and justice together, why true victory creates closeness rather than distance, and how Psalm 68 beautifully aligns with the Happy Kid Toolkit—revealing a model of secure leadership that brings calm instead of chaos.
This is not a call to strive harder. It’s an invitation to stop bracing and discover a God who is both strong and safe.
xoxo,
Danielle

You can understand your triggers. You can name your emotions. You can do the inner work.
And still feel stuck when it’s time to respond.
In this episode, we move beyond awareness and into responsibility—exploring what emotional maturity actually looks like in real life. Not in theory. Not in perfect conditions. But in real conversations, real conflict, and real relationships.
This episode brings together everything from Episodes 91–93 and answers the question many people quietly ask: “I understand myself better now… so why do I still struggle to respond wisely?”
You’ll learn:
Why awareness alone doesn’t create lasting change
The true difference between reaction and response
How emotional honesty and responsibility can coexist
What responding with wisdom looks like in families, marriages, and everyday relationships
If you’ve done the inner work but still find yourself freezing, overcorrecting, or falling back into old patterns, this episode is for you.
Because insight without responsibility doesn’t change anything. But intentional response can change everything.
🎧 Listen now and take the next step from reaction to response.

Danielle
